Aeropuerto de Baura/Arealva (JTC)
Baura/Arealva Airport (IATA: JTC, ICAO: SBAE) is a regional airport located in the municipality of Arealva, approximately 22 kilometers from the city center of Bauru, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Officially named Moussa Nakhl Tobias State Airport, it primarily serves the Bauru region and its surrounding areas, facilitating crucial connectivity for domestic travel.
The airport was inaugurated in 2006, replacing the older and less capable Bauru State Airport. Its development marked a significant upgrade in air transport infrastructure for the region, aimed at supporting the economic growth and integration of Bauru with other major Brazilian cities.
Baura/Arealva Airport covers a modern and well-equipped facility that accommodates both passenger and cargo flights. Although it primarily handles domestic flights, with services operated by airlines such as Gol Linhas Aéreas and Azul Brazilian Airlines, the airport plays a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity. It features a single runway measuring 2100 meters, which can accommodate medium-sized aircraft.
The airport handles a moderate volume of air traffic. Annually, it facilitates approximately 7,000 to 10,000 flights and serves around 150,000 passengers, reflecting its role as a key transport hub in the region. While it may not match the bustling activity of Brazil's major international gateways, Baura/Arealva Airport provides essential air services that contribute significantly to local commerce and tourism, making it an indispensable part of the regional transport network.
